How to do a Tasting
Mystery tastings are all about slowing down and savouring craft beer. By tasting blind, you can truly focus on the aromas, flavours, and feel of the beer without biases.
Step 1: Join a Tasting
Browse our list of tastings or scan a QR code of a tasting organized by a venue or a friend! Once you’ve joined, you’re ready to start tasting.
Step 2: Select a Beer
You’ll see a few letters on the screen, each representing a beer in the tasting. Choose a letter and, if you’re at a venue, order that beer by showing the letter to your server. If you have a flight, grab the beer marked with the selected letter.
Step 3: Taste it
Start tasting the beer and focus on the aromas, appearance, and flavours of the beer. At this point you can decide if you’d like to take detailed tasting notes, or just document if you like the beer and guess it’s style.
Step 4: Complete the Sensory Tasting
Tasting notes have never been easier—or more fun! We guide you through each tasting dimensions outlined by the Beer Judge Certification Program style guidelines. Simply record what you’re experiencing by swiping!
Step 5: Did You Like it?
Forget boring star ratings. Instead, answer three quick questions to capture whether you’d drink the beer again. Your notes are saved in your diary, so you can always find your favourite beers.
Step 6: Guess the Style!
Now for the exciting part! Put your tasting skills to the test by guessing the beer’s style and racking up points. Compete with friends and see who’s crowned the true beer-tasting expert!
